I’ve been lucky to have lived in France for a short time in the past. I’m delighted to make my dreams come true again in my golden years by traveling there this spring.
There is a quote from Mark Twain that sums up my feelings about life:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Gail J. Ames
So excited to be able to share this journey with you through your your blog. It looks beautiful. So enjoyed having you in French class.
Thanks, Barbara, I am excited about my journey and delighted to share it. A bientot.
Hope you will include recipes, photos of meals and fabric. If my knee is as successful as yours, perhaps I’ll be off again. What an inspiration you are. Hwyl –Welsh wishes for happy times — Beth
Thanks, Beth. I hope to do all of the above. It will challenge my computer skills, but I am looking forward to sharing many aspects of my adventures. Best of luck with your new knee. I hope it does as well for you as my two have done for me. We are lucky to have these options to keep us up and going. May you be going again too. Thanks for posting. I look forward to sharing my adventures.
Bon voyage mon ami. Tu a beaucoup de courage et joie. C’est la vie en rose n’est pas! Tous les preparations sont complet et maintainent on doit aller dans la reve.
Hi Gail, so glad to take this trip with you. Thanks for sharing so generously. May I share this with my sister. She and I both hope to do more traveling. Be well and thanks for the picutres, too. blessings on you, JoAnn
Well, Gail, I hadn’t realised you’d already written so much. I was mesmerized and delighted and so looking forward to what is to come! I’m going to try and print a couple of pages for the class tomorrow! Sally
We missed you in class this morning! But Sally read your entire blog to us (the train ride from Marseilles to Carcassone) and we will continue to live vicariously through your entries. I’m sooooo jealous!
Bonjour mon amie, I am reminded of my six semaine in1964 when I did a study tour in Dijon. I am very envious of your adventure. Ann Case and I went to lunch last week and met up with Joan Spigelman and Helen Foss. We spent some time chatting about your sojourn. This year I decided to conquer my desire to speak French and purchased Rosetta Stone. I like your solution much better. Miki and I are looking forward to the birth of our seventh grandchild in May. This is Andy’s second child, a boy to be named Lincoln. I look forward to following your travels. Bon chance et a bientot…..Susan
How great to hear from you. I am really enjoying the adventure. I spent about 6 months planning, so it is fun to see it work. I have a great apartment in Sarlat. I have rented about 8 places, I think. It is a dream come true. Glad you are working on French. Mine is not so good, which I know when I ask something and the response comes in English. Maybe they just want to practice????
Gail -
As usual you have inspired me. I love what you are doing and it has long been my dream to do the same in England. I must now start the real planning if it is to become a reality while I am still able. I have no living parents and no one dependent on my being there for them so there are no excuses.
I have loved reading your blog. I will follow you to the end!!
Ann
Hello Ann. Thanks for the message. You may want to check out 5 W that I reference in the blog. Right now I am staying with one member here in France. It is a wonderful way to get to know the real country, not just as a tourist. Thanks for reading. Gail
